A miracle in Monterosso, Cinque Terre, Italy
On October 25, 2011 Monterosso, along with Vernazza and other towns not as well-known as these two, were devastated by mudslides and horrific flooding. 8-12 feet of mud poured into stores and restaurants destroying the interiors, equipment, all the products and furniture.

On October 25, 2011, Cars washed down the mountainside as the main street, Via Roma, became a muddy river carrying parts of the hillside and vehicles through town.
The floods and mudslides in Cinque Terre can be seen and explained here on Rebuild Monterosso site. The bottom line is that instead of resting after an extremely busy tourist season, the Monterosso citizens began an intense work recovery schedule of rebuilding their town and businesses, while trying to keep their spirits high in the face of adversity.
The transformation that has taken place in the past 6 months, seems impossible. Even though I am a firm believer in making the impossible become possible, it still seems like a miracle, as though the photos have been photo shopped! They have not! To witness the miracle since my post about the mudslides take a look at the recovered beautiful Monterosso on the Rebuild Monterosso blog.
Even though the town is recovering, there is still much work to be done. Any donations are extremely appreciated. Do so through RebuildMonterosso.com.
I look forward to returning to the Cinque Terre this coming September with a group of women for my Italy Retreat for Women. Please add Cinque Terre to your travel plans!
